Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Boston
Completed spring 2008 this twin, 13-story, high-profile mixed use project is located on Boylston Street in Boston. The masonry façade is constructed of brick and limestone and is a picturesque example of masonry construction.
Phoenix was responsible for procuring, shipping, receiving and installing masonry materials including over 40,000 pieces of limestone and 450,000 brick. Phoenix also installed over 150,000 square feet of Air/Vapor Barrier and utilized over 80,000 man hours of labor. The project was constructed using a combination of scaffold and access systems which were coordinated and used by multiple trades.
This project presented many logistical challenges including a high volume of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. A curb to curb building footprint resulted in extensive neighborhood coordination and strict adherence to city protocol.
This was a successful project that was delivered on time and on budget.
